Community guidelines

1Be welcoming
Wingmate is for real mates doing real things, and everyone 18+ is welcome, whatever your gender, sexuality, gender identity, race, religion, age, ability or background. Make newcomers feel included. Don’t discriminate, exclude or put people down for who they are.
2Keep it friendly
Wingmate is for friendship, not dating. Don’t make sexual or romantic advances, send explicit content, or keep pursuing someone who has said no or gone quiet.
3Show up, or cancel early
Turning up is what builds trust on Wingmate. If you join an event, plan to be there. If plans change, cancel as early as you can so someone else can take your spot. Hosts: mark attendance honestly afterwards.
4Be honest
Use your real name and a genuine photo. Describe yourself and your events accurately. No fake accounts, no pretending to be someone else, and no claiming to be over 18 if you’re not.
5Look after each other
- Drink responsibly and never pressure anyone to drink. Never drink and drive.
- Check in on mates who seem quiet or down. A “you right?” can go a long way.
- Be patient, listen and keep conversations kind, in person and in group chats.
6Stay safe
- Meet in public places, especially the first time.
- Tell someone where you are going and who you are meeting.
- Arrange your own transport.
- Don’t share your home address, banking details or other private information.
- Trust your instincts. If something feels off, leave and report it.
7Respect privacy
Don’t share other people’s contact details, photos or private messages without their permission. Ask before taking or posting photos of people at events.
8If you’re hosting
Hosts set the tone. As a host you should:
- give accurate details about the event, the venue and the meeting spot, and choose a public place;
- approve people fairly, with no discrimination;
- welcome newcomers and make sure no one is left out;
- be there, or make sure someone is, and follow the venue’s rules;
- say clearly in the event description if there are any costs (for example green fees or a meal);
- report problems to us.
9What’s not allowed
- Harassment, bullying, threats or violence.
- Hate speech or content that targets people for who they are.
- Sexual content, sexual solicitation or dating-style approaches.
- Illegal activity, including illegal drugs.
- Scams, spam, selling, recruiting or advertising without our permission.
- Content that encourages self-harm.
- Fake accounts, impersonation or anyone under 18 using Wingmate.
- Sharing someone’s private information, or sharing photos of them without consent.
10Reporting and what we do
If someone breaks these guidelines, or you feel unsafe, report them in the app or email support@wingm8app.com. We look at every report. Depending on what happened we may give a warning, remove content, suspend an account or remove someone from Wingmate permanently. Serious concerns, such as threats or illegal behaviour, may be passed to the police. We don’t allow anyone to be treated badly for making a report. If you think we got a decision wrong, email us and we’ll take another look.
11If you or a mate are struggling
Wingmate can’t provide medical or mental health support, but there are people who can.
