Terms of use
Last updated: 3 November 2026
1About these Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are the rules for using the Wingmate app and the website at wingm8app.com (together, the “Service”). The Service is provided by Wingmate Corporation PTY LTD (“Wingmate”, “we”, “us”), PO Box 361, Dunsborough, Western Australia 6261.
By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms, our Community Guidelines and our Privacy & Collection Statement. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
2What Wingmate is, and isn’t
Wingmate helps adults make friends by connecting them through shared activities, such as golf, pool, gigs, trivia, surfing or a meal. Events are created by users, not by Wingmate.
- We are a platform, not the organiser. We don’t run, supervise or control events, venues or the people who attend them.
- Wingmate is not a dating service. It is for friendship.
- Wingmate is not a medical, mental health, counselling or emergency service. See section 12 for where to get help.
3Who can use Wingmate
- You must be 18 or over. Everyone 18+ is welcome, whatever their gender, sexuality or background. We may ask you to confirm your age.
- You must give accurate information and keep it up to date. One account per person.
- You log in with your email address and a code we send you. Keep your email account secure. You are responsible for activity on your account, and you must tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
4Your profile
Use your real name and a genuine photo of yourself. Don’t pretend to be someone else, create fake or duplicate accounts, or give misleading information. We may remove profiles or content that break these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
5Events and meeting in person
Wingmate exists to get people together in real life, and that comes with real-world risks. Please read this section carefully.
- You are responsible for your own safety. Follow our safety tips in the Community Guidelines. Meet in public places, let someone know where you are going, and trust your instincts.
- We can’t guarantee who people are or how they will behave. We do not guarantee the identity, conduct or intentions of any user or host and, unless we expressly say otherwise, we do not carry out background checks.
- Activities can carry risk. Sports, outdoor activities and events involving alcohol can cause injury or harm. You take part at your own risk and are responsible for your own fitness, behaviour, transport and insurance.
- Venues and laws. Follow venue rules and the law, including laws about alcohol. Costs such as green fees, entry fees or meals are between you, the host and the venue. Wingmate is not a party to those arrangements.
- Reliability score. The reliability score reflects whether people turn up to events they have joined. It is a guide only and not a guarantee of anyone’s character or safety.
6Hosts
If you create or host an event you also agree to: give accurate details; choose a suitable venue, ideally public; approve and treat people fairly and without discrimination; take part in the event’s group chat; mark attendance honestly in the app afterwards; and follow venue rules. Hosts are independent users and are not employees, agents or representatives of Wingmate.
7Acceptable use
You must follow the Community Guidelines. You must not:
- break the law or encourage others to;
- harass, threaten, abuse, discriminate against or exploit anyone;
- post unlawful, harmful, sexually explicit or misleading content;
- send spam, advertise, sell things or recruit people without our written permission;
- copy, scrape, reverse engineer or interfere with the Service, or use bots or automated tools;
- upload viruses or try to gain unauthorised access to the Service or other users’ accounts.
8Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (such as your profile, photos, event details and messages). You give Wingmate a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and share that content as needed to run and improve the Service. You promise you have the right to post it and that it doesn’t break anyone else’s rights or the law. We may remove content that breaks these Terms.
9Our content and intellectual property
The Wingmate name, logo, app, website, designs and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes. You must not copy, modify or reuse our branding or material without our written permission.
10Cost
Wingmate is free to download and use at launch, with no subscription, trial or paywall to sign up, create or join an event. If we introduce paid features in future we will tell you first, and you will not be charged unless you agree. Your phone or internet provider may charge you for data.
11Safety, reporting and enforcement
If you see something that breaks these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or you feel unsafe, report it in the app or email support@wingm8app.com. We may investigate, remove content, give warnings, suspend or end accounts, and where we believe someone is at risk or a crime may have happened we may contact the police or other authorities. If you are in immediate danger, call 000 (Australia) or 999 (UK) first.
12If you’re struggling
Wingmate is not a medical or mental health service and can’t provide advice, treatment or crisis support.
13Ending your account
You can stop using Wingmate at any time and ask us to delete your account by emailing support@wingm8app.com. We may suspend or end your account if you break these Terms or the Community Guidelines, or if we need to for safety or legal reasons. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as those about content, liability and governing law) will continue after your account ends.
14Privacy
How we handle your personal information is explained in our Privacy & Collection Statement.
15Our responsibility to you
We aim to keep Wingmate running well, but we can’t promise it will always be available, error-free or secure. To the extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is”.
Your legal rights. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law, or under consumer law in the United Kingdom or elsewhere, that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, where the law does not allow that.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows: (a) we are not responsible for the actions, behaviour or content of users, hosts, venues or other third parties, or for any injury, loss or damage that happens at or because of an event; (b) we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of data, profit or opportunity; and (c) where a consumer guarantee applies and the law allows us to limit our liability, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
16Apple and Google
If you get the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, these Terms are between you and Wingmate only. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app, its support or any claims about it.
17Changes
We may change the Service or these Terms from time to time. If a change is important we will tell you, for example by email or in the app. Using Wingmate after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
18Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Western Australia, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, including the United Kingdom, you keep any mandatory legal protections and rights in your home country. If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to sort it out.
